This derelict sugar factory in the town of Benalúa de Guadix was opened in 1913 alongside The South of Spain Railway line and had a capacity of 600 tons of refined sugar per day. In the 1970s the factory augmented its supplies of raw product by buying brown sugar cane from Cuba thus increasing its production to 1,550 tons per day. It closed in April 1982.
