Nuestra Señora Carmen Sugar Factory.

This derelict sugar factory in the town of Benalúa de Guadix was opened in 1913 alongside The Granada Railway line and had a capacity of 600 tonnes of refined sugar per day. In the 1970s the factory augmented its supplies of raw product by buying brown sugar cane from Cuba thus increasing its production to 1,550 tonnes per day. It closed in April 1982.
