The Intermediate Loader was a building that controlled the cable from Las Menas to The Ángulo. It had two different braking systems, one air of 120 horsepower and one automatic oil system with water pressure capable of 35 horsepower. The cable had no motor - it worked purely by gravity. There was another 1,660 metre cable system from Dulce María Mine which delivered to the hopper.
The Intermediate Loader. The ore from Las Menas came down from the left, the ore from Mina Dulce María came diagonally from the left and the iron ore from Mina San Miguel was dragged up to the loader on a chain via the cutting now covered by the main road and shown in the red circle. | |
A large base for a pylon to carry the ore down to El Ángulo. |
The whole of this area is fenced off making close-up photography difficult.
