The loader for The Tesorero mine. Iron ore was transported by a double aerial cable system by Pöhlig and Adolfo Bleichart which was in two sections. The one from the mine at 1,430m (4,690ft) went to a mid-way station at Corbull 1,323m (4,300ft) and the second went on to Km 108, a distance of approximately 17Km.
The highest point of the cable was 1,540 metres (5,051 ft). See map.
The cable carried buckets of 450kg travelling at a speed of 2.5m/sec (9Km/hr) totalling 40 tons/hour. The cable and loader operated between 1909 and 1915 carrying in total 170,000 tons in its lifetime. A tiny amount compared to Las Menas.
Now in very poor condition but it can still be seen how the iron ore trains were loaded and shunted.
See map of the cableway.
